Some fun things to do...
 |
Akeley is the
birthplace of the Paul Bunyan legend - you can even find the world's
tallest statue of him in town. The Akeley area is just what you'd
expect; an area filled with tall trees, clear lakes and unique features. |
| The
Woodtick Theater - right in Akeley. Highly
recommended for the whole family. Fantastic local musicians and
down-home comedy. Wednesdays thru Sundays, June to September. |
 |
 |
Itasca State Park - approximately 35 miles. Established in 1891, Itasca is Minnesota's oldest state park. In
it you will find the headwaters of the Mississippi River, as well as
natural, Native American and pioneer landmarks. Narrated boat
tours are available. |
|
Forest
Edge Winery - The winery is open May through December,
six days a week and closed on Mondays. Tours are available and are
designed to allow you to see how these fine wines are crafted, aged and
bottled. |
